The Department of Health and Human Services' (DHSS) Office of Inspector General (OIG) published its work plan for fiscal year (FY) 2008. Planned activities include reviews of Medicare inpatient capital payments, inpatient prospective payment system wage indices, long-term care hospital short stay outliers, Medicare payments to critical access hospitals, Medicare disproportionate share payments to hospitals, Medicare bad debts and patient care and safety in physician-owned specialty hospitals.
